Get to know Rachel:
Rachel Egboro Ojo cultivates stories to help people tell better stories about themselves. She has always been inspired by the power of personal stories and podcasts like The Moth. In January 2017, as racial tensions continued to rise, Rachel launched The Whole Story in partnership with Phoenix Art Museum. Her vision was to develop a welcoming environment for a mainstream audience to hear personal stories told from the Black perspective. Each quarter, she curated and coached five different people from the Black community to develop and share their stories live with a 300-person audience. Rachel was recognized as a “Rising Star” by the Arizona Humanities, the Arizona affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Rachel is proud to have created one of the few spaces in Arizona where the audience can authentically connect with her storytellers on a level deeper than their skin. In addition to her work with The Whole Story, Rachel has consulted with Prevent Child Abuse Arizona, Arizona Community Foundation and Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Phoenix to incorporate personal storytelling into their programming.
